Melanin is the pigment that gives our skin its color. Skin spots occur when melanin collects in certain areas of the skin. Some of these spots may be congenital, they may develop due to the sun, environmental factors or advancing age. With the help of developing medical technologies, innovative treatment methods have been developed in the treatment of skin problems and skin rejuvenation, as in many areas. One of them, Q-Switch laser therapy, is used safely in issues such as removing skin defects by using laser beams.
What causes skin spots?
- Genetic predisposition,
- old age,
- Sunlight,
- Hormone treatments,
- Pregnancy period,
- Medications (birth control pills, some antibiotics and antidepressants, etc.)
- Unconscious use of cosmetic products,
- Unconscious peeling application applied at home,
- It can cause the formation of spots after skin infectious diseases.
Spot Treatment with Q-Switch Laser
Q Switch laser can be used safely in all spots such as age spots, birthmarks, sunspots and melasma. It is combined with other spot treatments. The device has 4 different wavelengths. The Q-Switched laser device, which is also used in the removal of tattoos, eliminates the spots that occur due to different reasons and ensures that the skin has an even color tone as before.
The Q-Switch fires in nanoseconds, that is, in very short times. This shot causes it to shrink in color cells called melanocytes. Melonocytes are cells that produce the color substance melanin. The reason for the formation of the stain is the hard work of these cells called melanocytes. Since the Q-Switch Nd Yag Laser is black, it is absorbed by melanin, and the melanin and melanocyte in which the melanin is inside are heated. With this warming, the breakdown of melanin causes the melanocyte to shrink. Thus, both the stain is opened and the recurrence of the stain is reduced.
How is Laser Spot Treatment Performed?
There are different methods in the treatment of stains, but today, Q switch laser device is mostly used for stain treatment. In the treatment of spots, laser energy is absorbed by cells containing melanin in a concentrated manner. Other cells with normal colors are unaffected or only slightly affected. The laser device provides the removal of the following types of stains;
- Removing tattoos of different colors
- Treatment of benign moles
- In the treatment of sun and age spots in the face area
- In the treatment of sun and age spots on the hand
- In the treatment of hormonal spots such as pregnancy, use of birth control pills
Before starting laser treatment, your skin is brought to appropriate hygienic conditions and cleaned. In this treatment method, anesthesia is generally not used and no pain that requires anesthesia is felt. Q-switch sessions usually last up to 15 minutes. After an average of 4-5 sessions, the treatment is completed and the appearance of spots on the skin is treated. A few months after the end of the treatment, it is possible to have a more vibrant skin. After the treatment, depending on the type and depth of the stain and the energy given, side effects ranging from mild redness to crusting may occur. However, these side effects usually do not exceed 3-7 days and sometimes no crusting is seen. Depending on the rate of renewal of your skin, redness and crusting will heal faster.

What are the advantages of Q Switch laser?
The Q swicth laser is used both in the treatment of stains and in the treatment of hair yellowing. Thus, two good results are obtained in the same session. Another advantage of the Q Switch laser is that it does not harm the skin, and the application is very easy. You can get the procedure done and return to work immediately.
Who Cannot Get This Treatment?
The areas of the body to be treated with laser spot treatment should not be tanned due to the sun or tanning lotions. Skin areas that become darker due to tanning can absorb laser beams and therefore side effects such as skin irritation or blistering may occur. Therefore, the application is not applied to people with tanned skin.
In practice, general anesthesia is not used, but in some special cases anesthetic creams with local effect or cold air are used. After the procedure, there may be temporary redness on the skin or crusting that will fall off after 1-2 weeks.
